Dog Owners are Responsible for Their Pets
The City Council is considering several options for violators of the dog-at-large and leash law ordinances. Options include pet owner education, stringent licensing efforts, minimum and mandatory penalties for violations, and clarifying ordinances as necessary. Currently, violators may receive a fine up to $750 and even jail time. The police department and justice court have been asked to increase their efforts address this issue.
Dog licensing fees are now $10 annually for spayed and neutered animals and $50 for non-spayed and neutered animals.
The responsibility to “clean up” after dogs is the responsibility of the owner. We want to keep your parks and public areas clean an inviting. |
