TITLE 03 -- BUILDING CODE Chapter 2 -- Liquefied Petroleum Gas Installation Chapter 2 -- LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS INSTALLATION Section 3-2-1. Permits Required Section 3-2-2. Fees Section 3-2-3. Inspection Section 3-2-4. Standards for Installation Section 3-2-5. Penalty 3-2-1. Permits Required. No person, partnership, or corporation shall install equipment for the burning of liquefied petroleum gases, or do any work for such purpose without first obtaining a permit to do so from the building inspector. No permit shall be issued to any person, partnership, or corporation who does not hold the license which is required by Title 10. It shall be unlawful to begin the installation of any equipment for the burning or use of liquefied petroleum gases or make any additions or alterations to a system already installed without first obtaining said permit. 3-2-2. Fees. The fee for the first permit required by the preceding section shall be $2.00 for the first five fixtures installed in any system and $5.00 for each additional fixture installed in the system. 3-2-3. Inspection. All installations of equipment for use of liquefied petroleum gases shall be inspected and passed by the building inspector. Notice shall be given to the inspector at the time the installation is complete and ready for inspection before the system is covered or concealed. The building inspector shall then inspect the system and, if the system has been installed according to standards set forth in this chapter, he shall approve the same, but if it does not meet those standards, the defects shall be corrected and the system reinspected. A fee of $2.50 shall be charged for all second and subsequent inspections which are necessary until the system is approved. 3-2-4. Standard for Installation. The design, installation, and construction of containers and equipment for the storage, handling, and use of liquefied petroleum gases shall be those set forth by the National Board of Underwriters, 1951 edition, as recommended by National Board of Fire Protection Association. The City Recorder shall maintain three copies of such standards on file in his office for inspection and use by the public in the manner required by State Law. 3-2-5. Penalty.* Unless otherwise designated, any person violating any provision of this Chapter either by failing to do the acts required herein or doing any act prohibited herein shall be guilty of a Class B Misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to punishment by a fine not to exceed $1,500, by imprisonment for a term not to exceed six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. |
